SERMON NOTES

Colossians 3:12-14 NIV

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

God’s love ultimately leads to life, the world’s love is a path to destruction.

God’s love empowers, it does not enable.

God’s love liberates, it does not tolerate.

We need to love our families like God loves us, not like the world loves us.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 MSG

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

Colossians 3:14 NIV

14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
