SERMON NOTES

The destination is to be more like JESUS.

Our family relationships are not a safe space for indulging our old self,
but a primary place where God calls us to live out our new self…

Colossians 3:9-10 NIV
9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

Being renewed to be more like JESUS.

Colossians 3:12-13 NIV
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Forgiveness is the gift from God created to repair bridges of relationships.

Forgiveness: RECEIVE it and GIVE it.

It is impossible to receive forgiveness without recognizing we were in the wrong.

Attempt Perfection > Inevitable Fail > Punishment For Failure > Attempt

God has called us to a PROCESS, not to be PERFECT.

1 John 1:8-9 NIV
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

In order to walk out forgiveness we must:
> Take a new picture
> Take ownership of your actions, PERIOD

In order to walk out forgiveness we must:
• Confess of our actions and intentions

• Confession begins the healing process
• Confession breaks the silence
• Confession builds community

In order to walk out forgiveness we must:
• Surrender our intentions and actions
