SERMON NOTES

The reality of relationship:
You can’t get the father’s stuff
If you don’t receive the father himself
There is no blessing outside of relationship.
Because with God, the blessing is relationship

Jeremiah 17:9-10 NLT

“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked.Who really knows how bad it is? 10 But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives.I give all people their due rewards ,according to what their actions deserve.”

You can always tell intentions by the heart’s motivation

Genesis 27:39-40 NLT

39 Finally, his father, Isaac, said to him, “You will live away from the richness of the earth, and away from the dew of the heaven above. 40 You will live by your sword, and you will serve your brother. But when you decide to break free, you will shake his yoke from your neck.”

Genesis 7:17-23 NLT

17 And to the man he said,“Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you.All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. 18 It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains. 19 By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.” 20 Then the man—Adam—named his wife Eve, because she would be the mother of all who live. 21 And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife. 22 Then the Lord God said, “Look, the human beings have become like us, knowing both good and evil. What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it? Then they will live forever!” 23 So the Lord God banished them from the Garden of Eden, and he sent Adam out to cultivate the ground from which he had been made.

What happens when humanity forsakes
Relationship with God?
We leave supernatural provision
We leave supernatural protection
We leave supernatural relationship
We are banished from God’s presence

Obadiah 1:3 NLT

3 You have been deceived by your own pride because you live in a rock fortress and make your home high in the mountains.‘Who can ever reach us way up here?’you ask boastfully.

Obadiah 1:10 NLT

10 “Because of the violence you did to your close relatives in Israel, you will be filled with shame and destroyed forever.

Hebrews 12:5-6 NLT

5 And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you. 6 For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”

Obadiah 1:17 NLT

17 “But Jerusalem will become a refuge for those who escape; it will be a holy place. And the people of Israel will come back to reclaim their inheritance.

Obadiah 1:21 NLT

21 Those who have been rescued will go up to Mount Zion in Jerusalem to rule over the mountains of Edom. And the Lord himself will be king!”
