2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.

Why?

Spirit > Mind > Body >

Romans 8:4-5 NIV

4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

Motivation has a short life span.

Ready, set, GO!

Read Proverbs 14:30. Does peace help you maintain good health? How so? What are some areas in your life where you don’t have peace? Are those areas negatively affecting your health?

Read Proverbs 3:7-8. What do these verses tell us about our health? If we eat right and exercise, but neglect the Spirit of God, how are we harming ourselves?

Read Psalm 63:5. Everyone loves a good meal. What is the Psalmist communicating about great food? If you were honest, do you have an addiction to food? Does that addiction satisfy you? Does it trump your love for God, and what He asks you to do?

Prayer focus for the week.

Do you struggle with staying healthy?

Do you go from one diet to the next?

Do you have a gym membership that rarely gets used?

Does your scale constantly remind you of this? Are you afraid of your scale?

If this is you, spend some time this week wrestling with this in your spirit. A healthy life really begins in prayer. Ask God not just to break addictions or to help you, rather ask Him to cement in your spirit just how important it is to be healthy.

Are you in pretty good shape?

Are you a picture of good health?

Spend some time this week in prayer pondering these questions:

Why is it important for me to be healthy?

How important is image to me?

Am I prideful at all?

Are there areas in my life that are NOT healthy?

Have I compartmentalized physical health?

Maybe you’re in good shape in your spirit, mind, and body. Show your gratitude to God in your prayer time this week. There are many people who are not healthy in all three components.
