Immerse: Beginnings

Join us as we go back to the beginning of time and creation, following the path of God’s perfect plan for us. This is the second installment of our Immerse series.

1 | One God and Creator

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

Genesis 1:1-2

2 | Created for Covenant

5 The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. 6 So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.
Genesis 6:5-6

3 | Created for Work and Rest

15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.
Genesis 2:15

4 | Created for Presence

8 “Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them. 9 You must build this Tabernacle and its furnishings exactly according to the pattern I will show you.”
Exodus 25:8-9 NLT

5 | Created for Holiness

45 For I, the Lord, am the one who brought you up from the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. Therefore, you must be holy because I am holy.
Leviticus 11:45 NLT

6 | Created in the Image of God

1 While the Israelites were camped at Acacia Grove, some of the men defiled themselves by having sexual relations with local Moabite women.
Numbers 25:1

7 | Created for Place

1 One day a petition was presented by the daughters of Zelophehad—Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. Their father, Zelophehad, was a descendant of Hepher son of Gilead, son of Makir, son of Manasseh, son of Joseph.
Numbers 27:1

8 | Created for Life

11 “This command I am giving you today is not too difficult for you, and it is not beyond your reach.”
Deuteronomy 30:11
